THE EARTH RECEIVES AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF SOLAR ENERGY.

On average, about 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strike the Earth continuously - averaged over a year, this is approximately 342 watts of solar energy that falls upon every square meter of land. This is more than 10,000 times the world's total energy use. For large utility-scale solar farms, costs can range from $0.50 to $1.00 per watt, figures that will only reduce as efficiency improves. So building a larger solar-powered infrastructure will only increase the percentage of renewable energy we use in everyday life. On average, about 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strike the Earth continuously. This is a tremendous amount of energy - 44 quadrillion (4.4 x 10^16) watts of power to be exact.

[VISUAL]

NARRATOR: Meet the Elizabeth Swann, a trimaran powered by the sun. Its unique Solar Wings harness the power of the sun to propel the ship forward using electricity for it's motors.

[VISUAL]

NARRATOR: As the sun moves, the wings adjust, always presenting a large, flat surface to capture maximum sunlight. This improves the efficiency of the photo voltaic panels, allowing the ship to travel faster and farther.

The ship achieves this by rotating the wings using hydraulic servo actuators, and electronic light sensors, that trigger the tracking system.

[VISUAL]

NARRATOR: The Elizabeth Swann is a testament to the power of renewable energy, proving that even the vast oceans can be navigated by the sun's rays.

The Elizabeth Swann stands poised at the forefront of innovative maritime transportation. This project showcases the viability of hydrogen technology, presenting unique opportunities for compatible concerns to embrace a practical, sustainable future.

YOUTUBE SERIES ONE TITLES UNDER DEVELOPMENT 2024

Our Youth Project Lead, 'presenter,' Leo Perrin, is developing an educational series of YouTube videos in collaboration with the Cleaner Ocean Foundation and Jameson Hunter Ltd. The series will unfold over the next 12 months into 2025, to include the titles below. With additional Series to accompany the build of the Elizabeth Swann (ES) in 1:20th scale, full size, ocean trials and as appropriate, a JVH2 attempt - in follow on years - subject to subscriber endorsement.
